"Here's Tiger!
"Here is America's boy-friend, presented to you in a special package, all done up in color, in black-and-white photos and (decidedly) 'in the groove.'
"As you listen to the recording itself, you'll hear a new Fabian, giving out with a solid beat in the rhythmic numbers, and showing a strong feeling for the more melodic, ballad-type songs. This is part of the new devleopment of the startlingly-handsome youngster who, less than two years ago, had never dreamed of taking a leading role in show business.
"The story of Fabian's discovery and later rise to fame guided by his mentors, Bob Marcucci and Peter DeAngelis, has been told so often and is so well-known, that it doesn't seem necessary to repeat it here. It would be considered important, however, to mention that The Fabulous Fabian is now something of an international favorite, his fame having been spread throughout the entire world; in America, particularly, his skyrocket ride to glory has been described as one of the most phenomenal success stories of our time, and it looks like our boy really 'has made it.' It isn't merely his remarkable good looks and personable charm that account for this. No one can succeed in such a competitive field as the entertainment business without some strong, outstanding talent to back up the necessary physical qualifications. Behind Fabian's success is the story of willful determination, a sincere love of people and a genuine desire to make friends.
"The Tiger's definitely made a lot of friends! Long after he'd already had his first record released, he continued to go on long, tedious promotional tours, visiting disc jockeys everywhere, making appearances at record hops, performing at benefits, etc. Whenever the opportunity comes up even now, Fabian is ready to shoot out to any distant city where some special 'gig' is being held for teenagers, a charity show or some other worthy cause.
"Early in 1959, the fast-rising star had his first album released, entitled Hold That Tiger! The tremendous acceptance of that package by thousands of fans made the album a best-seller throughout the nation, and the name of Fabian became the signal for enthusiastic acclaim wherever he appeared. It was only natural, therefore, that the many guest performances he made on such top-rated television programs as The Dick Clark Show, American Bandstand, The Perry Como Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, etc., would lead to a further career in motion pictures. So it was that, during the summer, 'Fabe' was kept busy on the 20th Century-Fox lot in Hollywood, starring in the Jerry Wald production, Hound-Dog Man. As this is written, the film has already been seen and previewed by critics and the movie trade press, and Fabian's performance as both an actor and as singing star have moved the previewers to forecast a brilliant future for him in films.
"Throughout his amazing career of the past two years, Fabian has kept his feet on the ground and his head below the clouds. He still feels a deep sense of gratitude to the fans who spurred him on, to the professional musicians and co-workers who cooperated in the various portions of the training schedule and, especially, to Peter DeAngelis and Bob Marcucci, who have continued to guide the career of what should prove to be more illlustrious than ever for THE FABULOUS FABIAN..."
