| Kazumi Watanabe has for the past 20 years been one of the top guitarists in fusion, a rock-oriented player whose furious power does not mask a creative imagination. Watanabe studied guitar at Tokyo's Yamaha Music School and he was a recording artist while still a teenager. In 1979, he formed the group Kylyn and, in 1983, he put together the Mobo band.

| Import from Japan. Includes obi strip and insert in both Japanese and English. Beautiful music! Kitaro's style is the epitome of the contemplative, highly melodic synthesizer music often associated with the new-age movement. Interestingly enough, this famous Japanese composer taught himself to play electric guitar in high school -- inspired by the R&B music of Otis Redding.

| Biography: "Veteran blues singer and reigning queen of Chicago Blues, Koko Taylor has an earthshakingly powerful voice that can swoop from a raspy low groan to gritty, paint-peeling high notes with amazing power. She has often been paired with powerful and distinctive guitar players such as Buddy Guy and Lonnie Brooks over the years, but her hard-rocking, visceral style is more than a match for any artist whom she shares the stage or recording studio with. Born in Memphis, Tenn., Taylor moved to Chicago at age 18 and eventually fell in with songwriter extrodinaire Willie Dixon, who became her mentor of sorts. Her 1966 recording of his "Wang Dang Doodle" was the last charting song for Chess Records. She has recorded steadily over the years, most consistently for Alligator Records. Live, she is an arresting presence, stalking the stage in sequined dresses sporting a mouth full of gleaming gold caps." Includes "Wang Dang Doodle."

| The Kronos Quartet is a string quartet founded by violinist David Harrington in 1973. Since 1978, the quartet has been based in San Francisco, California. The longest-running combination of performers (1978–1999) had Harrington and John Sherba on violin, Hank Dutt on viola and Joan Jeanrenaud on cello. Jennifer Culp replaced Jeanrenaud at 'cello in 1999. Jeffrey Zeigler replaced Culp at 'cello in 2005. Kronos specializes in new music and has a long history of commissioning new works; in fact, over 600 works have been created for the Kronos Quartet. Recently, the Kronos Quartet begun a commission process exclusively for composers under the age of 30, in hopes to bring some of the talented young composers of our day to light. They have worked with many minimalist composers including Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Terry Riley and Kevin Volans. Their work covers a very broad range of musical genres: Mexican folk, experimental, pre-classical early music, movie soundtracks (Requiem for a Dream), jazz and tango. Kronos has even recorded adaptations of Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze", Television's "Marquee Moon", and Raymond Scott's "Dinner Music for a Pack of Hungry Cannibals." White label promo. 12" EP.
