| Patrick Sky was one of the most enigmatic performers of 1960s folk music. A descendant of the Creek Indian tribe, Sky first attracted attention singing the traditional folk songs that he learned from a grandmother as a child. Sky was equally influenced by the satirical writing of Will Rogers and the topical songs of Woody Guthrie. Beginning with his recordings of the late-1960s, Sky's songs became increasingly political and outspoken. Sky's most confrontational album, Songs That Made America Famous, recorded in March 1971, was rejected by several record labels before being released on Sky's own label, Rainbow Collection, two years later. Sky spent most of his childhood in the LaFouche Swamp region of Louisiana, the ancestral home of the Creek Indians. As a youngster, Sky learned to play guitar, banjo and harmonica. Although he performed in several local clubs, Sky gave little thought to a career in music until he had attended college and spent a couple of years in the Army. Upon his discharge, he began to perform in folk music clubs and coffeehouses throughout the United States. Settling into New York's Greenwich Village in the early-1960s, Sky became an important member of the then-thriving folk music community. Sky's self-titled debut album, released in 1965, included several original tunes including "Many A Mile," which was adopted as the title track of an album recorded by his then-girlfriend, Buffy Sainte-Marie. Sky's song, "Love Will Endure" was covered by The Blues Project on their 1967 album, Live At Town Hall. Sky continued to increase his repertoire of musical instruments. In addition to becoming known as a builder of the Irish uillean pipes, which he mastered as a player, he incorporated the traditional Native American mouth-bow. Jacket has tape repair on seams and some moisture damage, but the vinyl itself is in mint/near mint condition!

| Since his recording debut in 1968, Paul Geremia has been one of the best white acoustic bluesmen working, for his expressive singing as well as his dexterous playing. A native of Rhode Island, he originally came to blues by way of the 1960s folk boom, but unlike a lot of other players on that scene, he never went electric. Corner cut and light ring wear.

| Includes "Come Back And Stay", "Love Will Tear Us Apart", "Love Of The Common People" and "Wherever I Lay My Hat." For much of the '80s, Paul Young rivaled Simply Red's Mick Hucknall as the top blue-eyed soul/pop singer in the U.K. In America, Young was known primarily for his lone chart-topper "Every time You Go Away," but was able to sustain his commercial success at home for much of the decade. He was chiefly an interpretive singer, and although he did write some of his own material, his greatest strengths lay in covering R&B classics and rescuing forgotten chestnuts from obscurity. Unfortunately, Young's career was interrupted periodically by difficulties with his voice, and those health problems substantially curtailed his activities in the '90s. Import from Japan. Includes obi strip and lyric insert in Japanese and English.

| Still sealed in shrink wrap this Vinyl Record will play like it was new. Clarinetist Pee Wee Russell is one of those unique players that comes along only once in a lifetime. Known as much for his unique style consisting of squeaks and overtones as for the mournful expression on his face, Pee Wee was born in St. Louis and began playing clarinet in Muskogee Oklahoma which is famous for giving the jazz world pianist Jay McShann. Pee Wee's career in jazz began in the early 1920's in Chicago with Bix Beiderbecke and Frank Trumbauer, cutting his first sides with Red Nichols and his Five Pennies in 1929. The band also featured Glenn Miller and Jack Teagarden on trombones, Bud Freeman on tenor sax and Eddie Condon on guitar. By the early 1930's, Pee Wee moved to New York where he found a steady home in the bands of Eddie Condon and jamming with a roster of hot jazz players including Bobby Hackett, Red Allen, Edmond Hall, Hot Lips Page, Jack Bland, Buster Bailey and Vic Dickenson. Pee Wee played in the all-star band put together by Eddie Condon for Fats Waller's Carnegie Hall debut in 1942, which also included Bud Freeman and Gene Krupa. Throughout most of the 1940's Pee Wee could be found playing at Nick's, the popular Greenwich Village restaurant/club that was a mainstay for hot musicians as the swing era evolved into bop. During this period Pee Wee was recording sides for Milt Gabler's Commodore label under his own name and as a sideman. In 1951 after years of heavy drinking and not taking care of himself, Russell fell ill and so near death that a benefit concert was held in his honor. After weeks in the hospital, including several blood transfusions and three square meals a day, Pee Wee returned to New York and played a well received set at the Newport Jazz Festival with Thelonious Monk thus proving his talent for all music whether traditional or bop. Pee Wee was a consummate small group player. Although he was offered jobs with many of the top-name big bands of the day, Pee Wee preferred the small group swing that he had been playing all his life, and with the exception of a short stint with Bobby Hackett's Big Band played exclusively in small groups. Russell was a mainstay in traditional jazz bands along the east coast until his death in 1969.

| Peter Brown first came to fame with the first million-selling twelve dance single, 'Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me.' Brown was a pioneer in home recording, having recorded his seminal hit in his bedroom. His '70's era home recording studio is pictured on the cover of Westside / DNA's 'Get Funky With Me: The Best of the TK Years'. He also co-wrote Madonna's 1985 pop hit, 'Material Girl,' with Peter Rans. Born 11th July,1953 in Blue Island, Illinois, Brown, who started playing drums in his teens, attended the Art Institute Of Chicago and experimented with his four-track reel to reel tape recorder in his bedroom studio. He became proficient at performing all the music himself. The singer / keyboardist / producer was signed to Hialeah, FL-based Drive Records, a subsidiary of Henry Stone's TK Records. Brown's 1984 Columbia LP, Snap included the sly rock / dance classic 'Zie Zie Won't Dance,' the dub reggae-sounding 'Hot Flash,' the driving, swirling horn-laced 'Electric Shoes,' the dream-like 'Double or Nothing,' and the pumping single, 'They Only Come Out At Night.'
